There are so many cliches running through my head when reading about this story.

People never cease to amaze me

Just when you've thought you've seen it all

I can't even verbalize my disgust for this man.  36-year-old Nathan Sutherland was a licensed practical nurse at Hacienda Healthcare in Phoenix, Arizona.  A man who was supposed to protect and assist these helpless patients and instead he "allegedly" did the unthinkable.

He has been charged with having sexual relations and impregnating a woman with intellectual disabilities.  This woman gave birth on December 29th and has been residing in the hospital and only in the hospital during the time she conceived.  It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that whoever had abused this woman most likely came from that hospital.  Sutherland immediately was under suspicion and after the baby was born, authorities were able to conduct DNA tests which proved the baby was Sutherlands.

KTVB reports that the Phoenix Police Department has made this case THE top priority.  Sutherland has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of vulnerable adult abuse.  The investigation is wide open right now with authorities trying to figure out exactly what happened, how many times it happened, and under what circumstances.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).
