Have you driven past the old Huston School on your way into Caldwell's Sunnyslope Wine Region?  The abandoned school house in the lost town could be getting a new life.

The little town of Huston sits between Homedale Road and Karcher Road west of Chicken Dinner Road.  According to the Idaho Press Tribune, the little town was known for being a shipping hub for produce grown in Canyon County.  Residents used to be able to easily reach Caldwell by riding a street car that ran daily until the mid 1920s.  After the street car was taken out, the town shrunk significantly in size until it's last business closed it's doors in 2005.  Today only the post office remains standing, along with the abandoned school house that you drive by on your way into Idaho's wine country.

The abandoned school could be getting a new life! According to Facebook Meredith Dille's post in the Boise & The Treasure Valley History group, a couple has purchased the old school.  Dille's post explains that the couple is working to restore the old building and turn it into part residential space and part event venue.  They're looking to put in a low profile roof to keep the current, worn look of the current roof and a glass atrium in the middle of the building.

The school was most recently featured in a video by Boise based violin and piano duo, 92 Keys. Their arrangement of the classic children's song "Little Star (Twinkle, Twinkle)" is meant to inspire young people to pursue their dreams in the arts through music.
