It's nothing fun to think about-- an active shooter situation. While in college at Gonzaga University, there was an active shooter scare that turned out to be a false alarm while I was in class. It was the scariest hour or so, of my life. It was a criminal justice class, in which our teacher was a detective for the Spokane County Sheriff's Office. Though I felt I was in great company, lucky for us-- it was all a hoax.

An active shooter can happen anywhere--even here in Boise. In fact, all it takes is ONE person to decide that's what they'll be doing that afternoon. It's a terrifying thought.

The Boise Police Department has announced they will be holding a training for the public on how to react and handle an active shooter situation. This training is, however, held classroom-style. There will be no real-life, mock scenarios.
