Affordable Care Act Deadline Tonight

Today's the day if you have not signed up for healthcare yet.  The deadline to lock down a health insuramce option is at 10 PM MDT.

Idahoans have several resources at their disposal for helping pick an option.  One option is using the nationwide website Healthcare.gov or by calling the help number on that website wich is 1-800-318-2596.  Many of the calls to that number are handled by the Maximus call center on the HP campus here in Idaho.  You may also compare plans on the Your Health Idaho exchange at Yourhealthidaho.org or by calling them at 1-855-944-3246.

According to PBS, there will be a grace period for people that weren't able to finish applying for healthcare by 10 PM MDT on March 31st.  Those taking advantage of the grace period will have to prove special circumstances prevented them from completing the process.

According to a post on About.com, penalty will be $95 for adult individuals in 2014.  That penalty will need to be paid when you file next year's federal taxes.
