Another Downtown Boise Restaurant Closes; What’s Happening in the Capitol Terrace Building?

As we were strolling by the bottom floor of the Capitol Terrace building and parking garage after Front Street Fights on Friday night, I couldn’t help but notice that one of the building’s staple restaurants had disappeared.

Jamba Juice occupied the space to the right of the escalator for six years, but has closed up shop.  On Friday night the windows were covered in brown paper and this note was posted on the door.

I shot a the photo and a note over to our friend Don at BoiseDev to see if he had the scoop on when/why it happened and it looks like this could be part of the major overhaul of the Capitol Terrace building.  The spring remodel will do away the checkered tile and green awnings we’ve all come to know.

There’s also talk of plans to fill in the “common area” that so many people use as a short cut from getting from the bars/restaurants near 6th and Main to 8th Street and some of the common area on the top floor when you get off the escalator. So what’s it being filled in with?

The Hawkins Company, who just bought the building, would love to see it become an indoor farmers market and food hall.  Several renderings of what that would look like has surfaced and Don’s got the preview HERE.

Two other businesses located in the Capitol Terrace building have gone out of business over the last six months. Pamper Nail Salon is now defunct and late night favorite, Pita Pit, closed in July.
