Boise Native Goes Viral…For Running From Police

A local man has gone viral for running from police during a sting operation in Salt Lake City, Utah. Samuel Bates, 20, was caught trying to sell a Ford F250 truck that he allegedly stole. He was also caught stealing an Apple Watch from a seller on their local Craigslist, only to be found pawning it off soon after running away with it.

After fleeing from law enforcement on foot (the run that has made this video go viral), he was found hiding in a nearby shed. The entire story (and video) can be found HERE.

The most important lesson from all of this is simple: be smart when buying and selling online! If you’re meeting up for a craigslist transaction, make sure someone goes with you or you tell someone exactly what you’re doing and where you’re going.

Here in the Treasure Valley, you can use the parking lot at the Meridian Police Department as a safe ground for online sale transactions. They are located at 1401 E Watertower Ave. Even if police officers are not present at the time, the lot is under 24-hour surveillance.
