I was absolutely crushed when the dine-in Pizza Hut across the street from our apartment closed (mainly because if we ran out of food during a pool party, it was super convenient to just swing by and pick up a pizza from that location.)  But it wasn't just the one in my neighborhood that closed.

Pizza Hut recently closed a considerable amount of their dine-in locations across Boise.  Those locations included the one across from my place on Apple Street (Southeast Boise,) Ann Morrison Boulevard (near BSU) and in Overland Park. That leaves some prime restaurant space reality open for other businesses to move in!

According to our friend Don at BoiseDev, one of those locations might not be empty for long! Gyro Shack is eying the empty Overland Park hut and plans to remodel the existing building.  One of the upgrades includes adding a drive thru for gyro pick-ups.

The Greek restaurant is continuing to grow across the Treasure Valley. It currently has a smaller drive thru locations in Overland Park and W State Street.  They also opened their first sit down location in the Clearwater Building in Downtown Boise in November 2016. Two more locations are planned for Fairview Avenue in Meridian and Evergreen Way in Everett, Washington.

As for the Pizza Hut locations, if one closed near your home like it did in my neighborhood, don't be too bummed.  The pizza giant moved those locations to smaller, nearby carry-out only locations.  If you'd like to sit down to eat your pizza, there are still dine-in restaurants in the following locations. It was always a family tradition for our family to enjoy a nice sit down dinner at Pizza Hut after my sister and I filled up our Book It! badges, so I'm glad these are still around!
