Sports Authority, one of the largest sporting goods stores announced some time ago that it would be closing all 450 of its stores. While this means an unfortunate loss of jobs for many at our local Boise store, but all of that merchandise has to go somewhere—right!?

I called the Boise location on Milwaukee last week and was told by a manager that the store had “no plans to close at this time” despite my mention of the nationwide closure announcement. Typically, when closures this large happen, merchandise is liquidated and I am all for a good sale—especially when it comes to the higher-end athletic gear that Sports Authority carries.

A call this afternoon to the same Boise location resulted in learning this much: liquidation sales will begin between 30 and 120 days from now and that’s all they would tell me.

From ellipticals to gym shorts, kayaks to Boise State apparel, Sports Authority carries it all and based off of liquidation sales that have already started at other nationwide locations, one can only assume the same is coming in Boise. Be sure to keep an eye out for what could be the largest sale of the summer!
