I spent some time at the Boys and Girls Club this week during their free school supplies event. I was amazed at how big the facility was and the inexpensive after school program. Check this out.

I grew up driving past the Boys and Girls Club as a kid and always wanted to go. Fast forward to my radio career and I've done everything from serving Thanksgiving dinners to watching them support us during Live For 175 (annual child abuse prevention campaign) each April. The Boys and Girls Clubs started back in 1906 from Boston and over 100 years later they serve the families in our neighborhood.

The Garden City location just served 1000 backpacks with assistance from Verizon just in time for the school year. I spoke with the Director Noel Bolduc from The Boys and Girls Club and she explained what $25 will get you for the school year. Pretty amazing and all those volunteers.
