The orange barrels are up, the detours are set, the day is here.  The Broadway bridge is now closed.

Demolition of the old bridge and construction of the new one begins today.  During the project Broadway Avenue will be closed in both directions from Cesar Chavez Lane to Myrtle Street.  You'll have to use the Parkcenter Boulevard Bridge as a detour.  For those used to running, walking or cycling on the section of the Greenbelt near the bridge, expect to see detour signs sending you around the project.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early Fall 2016.

Here's a glance of what the area surround the new bridge will look like.
