The red planet is will be the closest to Earth as its been in over a decade on March 31st, 2016.  Want to get up close and personal with Mars? Boise State wants to help you out!

The campus is hosting an astronomical viewing party for the community from 8:30 PM to 11 PM.  It's free and open to anyone who would like to attend.  The event organizer and assistant professor of physics at BSU tells KIVI-TV that Mars will not just be closer than it's been in a decade, but the brightest it's been as well.  The celestial alignment that brings Mars into Earth's view like this won't happen for another two years.

The party begins in the Multipurpose Classroom Building with a short lesson on the latest findings about Mars given by a planetary scientist from the Space Science Institute. If you can't make the talk, you can meet up with the presenters on the quad, north of the Administration Building.  They'll be setting up telescopes to not just see Mars, but Jupiter and Saturn too!
