Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, noted via Twitter yesterday (December 26) that the When Harry Met Sally actress’ status had been upgraded to “stable,” though she remained in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles-area hospital at the time.
But Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, ultimately confirmed her mother’s death in a statement today via family spokesman Simon Halls, saying, “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
