As a two time finisher of Old Chicago's World Beer Tour how did I feel it's my duty to tell you that tomorrow, Saturday, January 24th is National Can Beer Appreciation Day!  And what better place to celebrate the occasion than the Treasure Valley?!  Here's a look at how local brewers are celebrating!

Crooked Fence

Crooked Fence is celebrating at their Barrelhouse Pub on Glenwood near the Revolution Concert house from 2-6 PM.  For a $5 donation to the Idaho Humane Society you get into their Mini Beer Fest event that will feature samples from Laughing Dog, Payette, Slanted Rock, Sockeye and of course Crooked Fence breweries.  All samples will be poured out of cans to celebrate the day.

Payette Brewing Company

Many years ago, my training partners from Team In Training introduced me to the Payette Brewery on Chinden and it was love at first Foosball game.  Their brewery and tasting room is a really cool place to go watch a football game, play darts, Foosball, corn hole etc while you enjoy a cold one.  On Can Beer Day Payette is offering $1 cans.  That pricing also applies to their 6 packs, 12 packs and 24 can adventure packs.

Sockeye Brewing

My love of Sockeye beers develops out of my involvement in the running community.  It seems like no matter what questionably sane challenge I sign myself up for (Les Bois Trail 10K, City Of Trees Marathon, Idaho Wine Run) I clearly remember a can of Sockeye in my hand after I catch my breath.  On Can Beer Appreciation Day they want to put a can of Dagger Falls IPA, Driver Pale Ale, Power House Porter, Woolybugger Wheat or Galena Gold (my favorite Sockeye) in your hand.  Their cans will be $2 on premise (no to-gos here) at both the pubs on Cole Road and Fairview Avenue this Saturday.
