As long as the temps are 95 degrees or over, this cooling station will be available for those in need. In order to provide what is needed, very simple donations are being accepted and appreciated.

The Pioneer Community Center is hosting a temporary cooling station for homeless families with children between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - the hottest time of the day. The center will be open until the weather cools down.

The temporary cooling station is run by the Boise Parks and Recreation. You may self-refer (visitors do not need any referrals to come in and cool down). The address is 500 S. Ash Street.

You can help by donating some items such as:

  • Bottled water
  • Diapers of all sizes
  • Children's shorts
  • Flip flops
  • T-shirts

All donations can be dropped off at the cooling station during normal hours of operation which are, again, 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
