Everyone laughs when I constantly refer to "Cuffing Season" but now that we're all the way into Fall, people are telling me that I am actually right!

Summer has left us, everyone is either in a relationship or seeking one because that single, summer lifestyle has gone into hibernation for a while. Clubbing isn't as fun and those lovely Boise summer patios are covered up for the most part until the temperatures start rising again.

You've probably been receiving those "Hey girl" texts from the guys you met and ignored over the summer.  So, I'm warning you: DON'T confuse this contagious season with anything that could be serious.  Cuffing season exists because people want a winter cuddle buddy. As my good friend Dj Khaled would say:

Don't ever play yourself!

Here's how to survive Cuffing Season:

    Hit The Gym

I know, there's nothing fun about going to the gym. Plus, you haven't even committed to a New Year's resolution yet. Think of it this way-- that summer body you never got around to perfecting last spring? Get on that NOW. A little time at the gym can clear your mind, relieve some stress, and help YOU focus on YOU-- the most important person in your life.

    Leave Your Comfort Zone

While everyone is staying in and falling for the season centered around cuddling, you can be stepping outside of your comfort zone and picking up new hobbies.  Maybe you've always wanted to try a cooking class or go to a paint night.  Sign yourself up and take a girlfriend or fly solo.  I had lunch by myself over the weekend and honestly, it was the most calm 40 minutes I've spent in months.  You can use this season to learn a LOT of new things and a LOT about yourself. You got this!

    Adopt!

There are SO many adoptable cats and dogs at the Idaho Humane Society!  Adoption rates go down this time of year but there's still cuddly kittens you could be bringing home!  My cat is my best friend. #NoShame.

Check out the Humane Society, HERE.

    Volunteer!

Ok, so you're not ready to bring home a new animal or your roommate is allergic so you can't.  You can volunteer at the shelter and soak up some animal love.  Or at over 200 other places around the Treasure Valley.  There's nothing like the satisfaction of knowing you helped out.

    Order A Body Pillow

Maybe it's a stretch, but....too much space next to you in bed at night? There's a pillow for that.

    Be Honest With Yourself

It's cuffing season.  I won't judge you for caving if you must.  But be honest with yourself.  Choose your "cuff" from someone that is similar to you. DO NOT go cuffing an ex. Don't do that to yourself.

Make sure you're both on the same page. Emotions can get involved and if you ask me, avoid that. Set boundaries, and don't make it complicated...it's just a winter fling!

Just do me this favor...remember that it's TEMPORARY! Enjoy it and stay in touch infrequently. When cuffing season is over, we ramp it up for summer, baby!
