While I was putting together last week's list of Mother's Day Brunch destinations, I came across a Facebook post that really bummed me out.

Kindness, the restaurant nestled inside the remodeled Owhyee building, has closed it's doors for good.  The restaurant opened inside the Owhyee in August of 2014. It served brunch, lunch, dinner and hosted a series of penthouse pop-up parties.  In January of 2016, the restaurant ended regular dinner service to focus on catering, happy hour at the bar and their Saturday/Sunday brunch buffet.

The brunch buffet quickly became my favorite brunch spot in the Treasure Valley.  It was there that I learned what "soft scrambled" eggs were and that I'd been making scrambled eggs wrong my entire life. More importantly, it was my first "date" with my boyfriend.  At the time, we didn't realize that it was a date but looking back on the timeline of our relationship, it was the first in public, on our own place we went together.  And of course, it's where we both fell in love...with their $10 bottomless mimosas.

Sadly, we won't be celebrating our 2nd anniversary there next year.  The owners posted on Facebook on Saturday that Kindess would be closing for good.  That includes the catering side of the business they'd hoped to keep running.

Such a sad day.  We'll miss you Kindness!
