As I lined up on the start line of the Ho Ho Ho Hustle at Julia Davis Park on Sunday, I was fully aware that it was a balmy 18 degrees when my 10K started. 18!

But I'll be honest, 18 is an improvement from the temperature Siri showed me when I rolled over in bed at 8 a.m.  At that point it was 0 in Boise, -9 in Idaho City and -11 in McCall.  Ugh.  I pulled the covers back over my head and went back to sleep for a few hours. I was cold just thinking about it!

That 0 degree temperature was extremely significant.  According to the Idaho Statesman, it was the first time in 1,105 days (over three years) that 0 degrees was recorded at the airport.  Characteristically, the average low around this time of year in the Treasure Valley is 23.

The arctic blast is affecting the entire Northwest and making it hard for people to reach their holiday destinations.  My boyfriend was supposed to land in Cleveland around 5 p.m. on Saturday but after dealing with multiple delays, a cancelled flight to Denver and having to book a flight that spanned four airports, be finally arrived there at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night.  I'm sitting at the airport now crossing my fingers for good weather!

Of course if you're not traveling and just want to enjoy a white Christmas in the Treasure Valley, you're in luck.  Another Winer Weather Advisory is in effect and we could see up to another 3-5 inches of snow before 5 a.m. on Wednesday!
