G-Mail’s April Fools Prank Backfires On Users
Dear G-Mail users, lighten up! This joke was hilarious but it's been pulled already.
Early Friday morning Google started automatically inserting a GIF of King Bob from The Minions dropping the mic at the end of his coronation speech into people's e-mail. There were two buttons you could push "send" or "send with mic drop."
Some users didn't pay attention to the prank and ended up attaching the Minion to cover letters for jobs, funeral arrangements and prayer requests.
Needless to say people were PISSSED about it so Google ended up calling off their prank completely and posted the following statement on their blog:
Due to a bug, the Mic Drop feature inadvertently caused more headaches than laughs. We're truly sorry. The feature has been turned off. If you are still seeing it, please reload your Gmail page.
Womp, womp! This is why we can't have nice things.
