How August’s Total Solar Eclipse Could Mess With Your Cell Phone
Even worse, it could also disrupt your cell phone service.
To be more accurate, people flocking to Payette County to watch the space spectacle could squash any available cell towers‘ service. According to Payette County Sheriff’s Office says that 89% of 911 calls are made by cell phones, so it’s a major concern if people aren’t able to make outgoing calls during the eclipse. While there’s no plan in place to accommodate the increased strain on cellular service, the Sheriff’s Office wants you to know you can also text 911 in case of an emergency.
As always, contact 911 only in emergency situations.
