Is there a doctor in the house? Well if you're a doctor in a house in Boise, you're in the right place.

According to the health care publication Medscape, Idaho is the 4th best state in the country in which to practice medicine. Their primary reason for ranking Idaho so high is pretty simple. It's great to live here!

The cost of living is low, taxes are somewhere in the middle, and the average physician will make $289,000 a year. Additionally, doctors in Idaho only pay $5.17 per capita in malpractice insurance, well below the national average.

The only downside to practicing medicine in Boise? The two major hospital systems here that dominate the market.
