The Boise City Christmas tree lights up on Black Friday, but it's neighbor just a few blocks away won't begin glowing until next week.

Governor Otter and First Lady Lori Otter have announced that the Idaho State Capitol's Christmas tree will be lit on Monday, November 28th.  Live music from the 25th Army Band begins at 5 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30.

The program includes remarks from the Governor, First Lady and incredible performances from the children in the Andrus Ambassador Honor Choir (I'm a little biased, my friend from Team Run Boise, Rhonda, has a son performing in the choir) and Opera Idaho.

The public is welcome to keep warm and toasty with hot chocolate from Lucky Perk and Meadow Gold, warm cider from Albertsons and cookies fresh from Walmart's bakery. 2016 will also continue the tradition of children receiving a free book from First Lady Lori inside the Capitol after the tree is lit.
