For former Mountain View Maverick Destiny Slocum, a freshman at the University of Maryland it was a Big 10 Weekend to remember.  45 Points, 18 assists, she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and made the All-Big Ten Second Team. But wait, there’s more, she was named to the Big Ten all tournament team and her Terrapin’s took home the Big Ten tournament trophy.

Maryland beat Minnesota, 92-80, Friday night; Destiny added 13 points for the Terrapins and 6 assists. Saturday, No. 4 Maryland beat Michigan State 100-89 Destiny had 18 points and 5 assists. Sunday night, Maryland beat Purdue 74-64 to win the Big Ten Tournament championship for the third straight season. Destiny had 14 points and seven assists.

If you have not been keeping track, The 18 year old from Meridian’s 174 assists this year broke the Maryland freshman record for assists of 171 set in 2010. Slocum's 60 three-pointers broke the freshman record of 59 set in 2006.
