All of us were overjoyed to hear that Boise Police K9 Jardo was recovering after being shot Friday night. It breaks our hearts to tell you that he passed late last night.

Jardo, along with two Boise police officers, sustained gunshot wounds Friday while pursuing an armed suspect. Jardo underwent surgery, lost a lung, but survived. He even made it out to the candlelight vigil Tuesday night in honor of one of the officers (who survived) who he worked alongside with.

Jardo was rushed to the hospital last night where he passed away from cardiac arrest.

According to Boise PD, Jardo was an abnormally affectionate police dog. Brian Lee, Boise Police:

He would come up and he would force the petting - if you were there, he was going to get petted. He was very personable amongst the officers in the station, so I think that's what made him special to a lot of people.

All of us at 103.5 KISS FM have a soft spot for animals. We are all proud pet owners and we know how close the bond can be between a pet and their master. We'll all be hugging our furry friends a little tighter tonight:

You're in all of our thoughts, Jardo. We promise to give you all the pets in the world when we see you at the big dog park in the sky someday.

Godspeed, and thank you for your service.

It is much easier to show compassion to animals. They are never wicked.
