I've got a box of clothes overflowing by the TV stand in our bedroom just waiting to take across the street to the Idaho Youth Ranch donation box at the Parkcenter Albertsons.  Every time I take them to put in the box, it's overflowing...and that's not necessarily a good thing.

According to KTVB, the Idaho Youth Ranch had to spend over half a million dollars to dispose of the junk donations they receive at their donation sites.  Unfortunately, many people use the donation huts for dumping things unusable items that didn't sell at garage sales, broken furniture and stained clothing.  These are all items that the Youth Ranch can't use in their Thrift Stores either and now they're responsible for getting rid of them.

Items sorted as trash go into their trash compactors that need to be emptied a few times a week and that means spending money to have that trash taken to the landfill.  That's money they could otherwise be using to help at risk children in the Gem State. We know first hand from meeting the crew from the Youth Ranch during Live for 175 that their programs are incredible and really make a difference in the lives of the kids they reach.  Saving money on dealing with "trash donations" will really help them make a bigger impact.
