USA Today reports that Garry Marshall passed away today following a battle with pneumonia after suffering a stroke.

Marshall was best known for helping adapt a play into the well known TV series The Odd Couple.  From there he went on to create Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley (which launched his sister Penny's career) and Mork & Mindy.

He went on to helm feature films Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries. Marshall was also behind the movies that starred dozens of celebrities: Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve and most recently Mother's Day.
