The last time this happened, I wasn't prepared!  When I saw the 20% tag off EVERY beer in the store my eyes widened and I grabbed a splattering of six packs so I could try as many summer brews as possible! Perfect time to fill the cooler for 4th of July!

It's a One Day Beer Sale at Whole Foods Market!  Today, Wednesday, July 1st all beer in the store is 20% off!  That includes singles, six packs and everything on tap in The River Room!  So make your list, grab your growlers and head to Whole Foods to stock up on those 4th of July Essentials!

Not sure what to pick up?  Here's my top 3 summer brew recommendations!

    Anderson Valley Summer Solstice

Described as slightly sweet, malty session beer with a creamy mouth feel by it's brewers, this is my absolute favorite summer beers.  We met on the Old Chicago summer mini-tour years ago and the day I actually found the cans in the store I pretty much lost my mind! Wondering what to drink it with?  Anderson Valley recommends pairing this "cream soda for adults" with sweet potato fries, BBQ chicken, ginger beef kabobs or s'mores!

21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon

Wheat beer meet watermelon.  Watermelon meet wheat beer. There are few beers you can sip on poolside that are more refreshing than Hell or High Watermelon.  If you want something crisp but not overpoweringly fruity/sweet this is a great option for a summer brew.  Experts recommend pairing this one with veggies, a summer salad, grilled chicken pork and light body cheeses.

    Highlands Hollow Berry Good Wheat

Last summer I spent Tuesday nights running trails with McU Sport's "Trifecta Tuesday" group.  After we did our thing and meant back up with the road/mountain bike groups we'd sit down for a cold one at Highlands Hollow and this quickly became my favorite beer on tap.  It's unfiltered to leave flavor in the glass, not the filter.  Like the Hell or High Watermelon, this one isn't overly sweet.  It's a bit pink in color and tang of raspberries.  While I don't know what it's supposed to be paired with, it did go exceptionally well with Highlands Hollow's grab cakes!
