Just in time for Mother’s Day, Ludacris did something really special for his mom. The Atlanta rhymer surprised his mother, Roberta Shields, with a home renovation.

With the help of My Houzz, which follows people while they remodel homes for someone they love, Luda decided to refurbish his mom’s home, which was once his bachelor's pad.

“My mom and my relationship is very close,” said Luda. “She’s one of the people who first introduced me to hard work and dedication. That’s why I am where I am, and who I am, today. When she moved into it, she was wanting to make it her own. But a lot of the rooms my mother has started on are just incomplete.”

So to pull it off, Ludacris sent his mom on a relaxing vacation and hired designer Rachel Oliver to create her magic. According to People, the celebrity designer went to work remixing the living room, dining room, office and kitchen.

We don't want to give it away, but if you watch the video above, Ludacris' mom was very pleased with the renovation.

“It makes me feel that I’m blessed beyond belief,” said Shields, who was overcome with emotions after seeing her new home. “What I would say to them is, ‘Thank you for loving me.’”

For Ludacris, it's all about thanking his mother for being a huge inspiration in his life.

“I feel like every child wants to do everything they can possibly do for their mom to give back an ounce of what their mother has given them,” he said. “This is one step closer.”
