Every summer as a kid, hearing "they love you, mijo!" was a regularity coming from my mom. No, she wasn't talking about people...she was talking about mosquitos!

If you're outdoors in the Treasure Valley at all during this time of year, you know that the mosquitos around here aren't shy at all and yes, they love to bite. I'm allergic to the bites, as well.  Knock on wood, I haven't been bitten yet this year but when I am--I, and everyone around can tell because of how much they'll swell up for the first couple of days.

Now, as many headlines you may have seen indicate--pesky mosquito bites are no longer a joking matter. We have, in the area, yet another series of positive tests for West Nile Virus in captured mosquitos.

According to a press release sent out late yesterday evening from Southwest District Health, mosquitos trapped in Owyhee and Washington counties.

The health district has outlined some great guidelines and information on West Nile Virus that you can check, HERE.

Remember to remove standing water from your property at home to cut down on mosquito breeding grounds and to wear long sleeves/insect repellant when you're outdoors--especially in the evening!
