They ask you the stereotypical questions about potato fields, how brutally cold it is, and how you like the Midwest (that’s Iowa people, not Idaho.)  Those of us lucky enough to live here know that none of those stereotypes define Boise and it’s surrounding communities like Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell and Kuna!

In fact, publications across the country are starting to realize what makes Boise so special as it ranks on “Top 10” lists including best downtown, best river towns, fittest towns, best college football stadiums and hottest music cities in America.  With accolades like that, it’s pretty clear that Boise is anything but potato fields.

And cold? Are you kidding us?  Boise enjoys all four seasons! Yes, we get snow in the winter but the majority of it stays in the mountains of our world class ski resorts as close as a 30 minute drive from Downtown Boise.  Summers average in the mid 90s without humidity.  That’s perfect weather to get active in Boise’s lakes, rivers and foothills or cool down with a drink at one of the countless rooftop bars or downtown patios!  Fall is so crisp that it’s best captured in the hops and flavors of the many local craft beers concocted by the exploding Boise brew scene.

Yes, the magic of Boise is hard to explain to an outsider and that’s why we’ve put together this little guide to what makes Boise…Boise!
