Not a good way to kick off your arrival in a new town. A new basketball player for Boise State has been arrested the day after he arrived in the Treasure Valley.

Basketball guard Patrick Dembley has been slapped with a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.

He came to the Gem State from Iowa Western Community College and according to the Idaho Statesman per a college spokesperson "Boise State is aware of the situation, and will handle appropriately per department policy."

Dembley was apparently fighting in front of a business and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Idaho Statesman,  20-year-old Dembley borrowed a man's cellphone and didn't return it. This caused a verbal disagreement between the two men. Police later found the phone in Dembley's possession.

He has been charged with not only disturbing the peace but underage alcohol consumption. The man Dembley was fighting with was also charged with disturbing the peace.

Dembley is out of jail this morning, but no word yet on if this will affect his position on the BSU basketball team.
