When my son was born, I named him based on a dream of mine. How does it sound when it's being announced at the ball park as he walks up to bat? Yes, this is a real thing. This week, my dream started to come true.

Before I go into how excited I am and how "stage mom" I can get, I have to tell you about the type of mom I am.

  1. I believe my son should choose whichever sport he would like to play (or not play).
  2. Please, thank you and just manners in general are crucial.
  3. No judgement. My son can express himself creatively and ask any question he wants without judgement from me.
  4. Interrupting a conversation is rude.
  5. I love him more than he will ever be able to fathom...until he has a child.

This is just the beginning. That being said, a simple statement from my son, Colton, changed my world.

I'm a fan of baseball. Like, to a massively geeky level. I like to keep score, try to identify the type of pitch and I feel at home when I smell pine tar. Yep, it's that bad.

This week, my son expressed interest in playing baseball. I'm trying really really hard not to push the issue but we will be going out this weekend to get gloves and balls and bats and anything else we can find.

It's a long weekend and I plan to either get my son to a point of obsession with baseball or to where he hates it by the end of the weekend. I'll keep you posted.

I'm. So. Excited. I. Can't. Handle. Myself.

Am I insane? Like, have I turned into a crazy "momager" like Kris Jenner? I still mean what I said about my parenting style (above). I probably need to calm the freak down.
