I've never seen so many stores close as I have in the past few years and it looks like another one is about to bite the dust.

Whether you like it or not, shopping as we've known it for most of our lives is changing. I say this as I just opened a nice little package from Amazon instead of going to the bookstore for my latest read.

Payless Shoesource is not only closing all locations here in the Treasure Valley, but they are closing all 2,300 locations across the country according to boisedev.com.

Three of the local Payless stores are located inside Shopko locations which are also expected to close.

Four other locations that will close in our area are...

  • Payless off of Fairview in Meridian
  • Boise Towne Square
  • Cleveland Blvd in Nampa
  • Milwaukee St. in Boise

Closing soon sales are expected to start as early as next week, so you can start shopping those deep discounts that go along with stores going out of business.

There is something nostalgic about Payless for me. I remember shopping there as a kid with my Mom and feeling some weird sense of pride when we could finally afford to shop somewhere other than Payless. Still, I have found myself going back from time to time to find those classic affordable shoes.

Goodbye Payless, I guess our kids will have to grow up in a world without you.
