Marijuana is legal in our neighboring states of Washington and Oregon, and a lot ofthat legal weed is illegally making its way to Idaho.

Idaho State Police confiscated just over 130 pounds of marijuana. Last year, that number skyrocketed to 1,600 pounds. Police say this is strongly due to the legalization of marijuana just across our borders in both Oregon and Washington.

While this is a massive burden on Idaho police, marijuana is illegal in Idaho and at the federal level, so authorities will continue to seize it until the law changes.

Under the current law, a person charged with possession of at least an ounce of marijuana in Idaho faces up to a year in jail and/or a fine of $1,000.
