You already have people poking through your backpacks and purses at the airport and Boise State games, but would you let a theater worker search your bag before you go see Minions?

Because that's exactly what Regal Theaters are beginning to do.  Edward's parent company just went public with their new policy which reads "To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, backpacks and bags of any kind are subject to inspection prior to admission."  The new protocol comes on the heels of theater attacks in Louisianan and Tennessee last month and the 2012 Dark Knight Rises shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

A lot of people are outraged and say this violates their privacy but I feel the same way about this as I do having to walk through a metal detector at BSU games.  If it takes me a few extra minutes to get in, but they're able to stop someone from bringing a potentially dangerous weapon or device into the theater...cool. Thanks for looking out for my safety!

Of course, I've got a gut feeling that the majority of people complaining about the bag search are also the people that hit Jacksons or Winco before hand and load their bags down with candy to avoid the outrageously high concession prices.  I feel too guilty about trying to pull one over on the theater, so I'm the dummy paying $4 for a box of cookie dough bites before the movie starts.
