Nobody wants to get a text message from the police, but if it's keeping you out of trouble, it's certainly well intentioned.

I came across this story and I actually really appreciate the efforts being put out by the Ada County Sheriff's Office. Effective as of August 1st of this year, a text reminder for your court date is now an option from the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

If you can believe this, the most common arrest in Ada County is actually failure to appear-- while some people may be avoiding their court dates, there's no doubt some people may just innocently forget-- life is busy! Authorities hope that these new text reminders may help cut down on missed court dates which by the way, means cutting back on legal fees (county spending) and even jail population.

According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office, it costs taxpayers $89.77 a day to hold one person in the jail--now imagine cutting that overall cost down by 15 to 20 percent! One must choose to Opt-In for the service, but who WOULDN'T mind a text reminder for something this important?
