When we talked to our listeners yesterday morning, it seemed like road conditions around the Treasure Valley were still less than favorable even though the snow stopped late Friday afternoon.  Now ACHD is going on the offensive, defending the work they did.

ACHD received numerous complaints, as did KTVB, from people who said they hadn't seen any plows on the roads.  Their Chief Information Officer told KTVB that if a person hadn't seen a plow over the weekend, they weren't looking hard enough because all 23 plows were operating.  The department runs the plows when snow is thick and three or more inches deep.

Normally ACHD uses a de-icer that will normally clean up your average snow storm but because of the record low temperatures it's not working the way they'd like it to.  That's why they're sending the crews back out to scrape ice on certain roads and add traction with sand and salt.

I drove on Chinden and Parkcenter a lot the last few days and they're still pretty glazed over.  How do you think the roads were taken care of this weekend?
