While our entire party bus was getting ready to hit the pool in Jackpot, we watched footage of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sitting alone on the sidelines during the National Anthem in protest. While he does have the right to do this, does it change how you feel about him?

The very next night, the New York Giants played the Jets in a preseason game and sent an obvious message.

Colin's reason for not standing during "The Star-Spangled Banner" were this:

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. This is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

The NFL responded with:

"Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the National Anthem."

Think of your favorite player, celebrity or someone you've looked up to. Put them in Colin Kaepernick's position. How do you feel, now? Is he being disrespectful or is it admirable that he is standing for what he believes?
