When it comes to spending time on the mountain in the summer, I'm not a huge daredevil.  I barely have the ability to stay upright on my own two feet running trails, let alone handle rough terrain on a mountain bike.  BUT one of Bogus Basin's newest summer activities might be just right for me!

Bogus Basin's "Summer Tubing" will make it's debut this Saturday during the mountain's 75th Anniversary Summer Kickoff Celebration!  If you love the resort's "Pepsi Gold Rush Tubing Hill" in the winter, you'll be stoked to give the summer tubing hill a try!  A new, slippery synthetic surface known as "m-snow" has been installed on the lower section of the bowl leading to the base area of the mountain. Wonder what gives the "m-snow" (shown in the video below or click HERE) it's color? It's made totally out of recycled construction barrels you'd normally find on the side of the Connector or in Downtown Boise! The summer tubing set up will take you down one of the 300 foot lanes at speeds as up to 25 mph!

Summer tubing sessions are sold by the hour and will run $15 a session, plus tax.  The only restriction? Riders mush be at least 3 foot tall.

Bogus guests will be able to try out almost all of the mountain's new summer attractions including Gem Mining & Gold Panning, the Bungee Trampoline and Climbing Wall.  Sessions of each activity run $10 a piece. (Bogus's mountain coaster is still under construction and will be open later this summer.)

The 75th Anniversary Summer Kick Off begins with the Boise Front Trail Run at 9 a.m. The short course takes runners over the land, dirt and rocks over 5-6 miles, while the long course challenges runners over 10-12 miles. Both races start at the Bogus Basin Nordic Lodge and you can register for them HERE.

Not much of a runner? Just want to kick back with some good food and live music? The actual party runs from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and will feature music from DJ Lizzie and the Pimps of Joytime in the base area amphitheater!
