Ok. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for the blog title. The angle I'm coming from is- should I let OTHER people, outside influences such as music and movies that have strong language- be around my daughter? After working in radio for so long, it's understood that a lot of music is going to contain suggestive or strong language. I've become immune to it. But it's a whole other ball game listening to the words when a two-year-old is around. I want to do my best to shield my daughter from the bad parts of the world, but I think there is a fine line between being overly conservative and sheltering/vs protecting in a healthy way. The last thing I want is for my daughter to grow up with unrealistic expectations of how the world is. So- now I'll turn it over to you. The next time a stranger within earshot drops an F-bomb, should I tell him to pipe down if my 2-year-old is present? Should I change the channel if Cardi B comes on? Or should I let it ride? How far is too far? I'm curious to hear all your thoughts on this subject.
