It happens every year at the holidays - our out of state friends walk into a Boise grocery store, speak to a local and look at me like I need to translate. Growing up in Idaho I never thought much about it, but we really do say some strange things 'round here.

From phrases like "spinning cookies" to "Oh My Heck!" and "going to Treefort", out-of-townees are often confused at the foreign language of us Boiseans. And with more people moving to Idaho than any other US state in the past year, our slang is sticking out now more than ever.

Did you grow up with Idaho slang? Or are you a transplant embracing your new lingo like you would finger steaks and fry sauce?

Take the Idaho Slang quiz for yourself to see how well you know our slang...I've lived here most of my life....I scored a perfect 100%....OH MY HECK!!!!!!

Now if you know what finger steaks are, but have never tried them....here's an Idaho Finger Steak recipe
