The 99th Anniversary of Prohibition is This Week
Tuesday is a dry day in our nation’s history. That’s right, it’s the 99th anniversary of Prohibition. According to history.com, on January 16,1919 “The
18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, prohibiting the ‘manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors for beverage purpose’.
But, don’t get too upset! Because after a long 14 years our boy, FDR, won the Oval Office on a platform promising American a repeal of Prohibition if he won. He obviously won. And now, 99 years after the beginning of this madness we can celebrate!
