A local business owner told me the nanopub next to his store had the best fish & chips in the Treasure Valley and if I disagreed with him, he'd buy my dinner. I have to say he's right!

That business owner is Mike Shuman at Shu's Idaho Running Company on State Street.  If you've ever met Mike you know that when he's passionate about something he's very animated about it.  He's told me several times that Cloud 9 Brewery had the best Fish & Chips in the Treasure Valley and he'd pay for mine if I disagreed.  I'd never been to Cloud 9 until this Saturday evening and well...Whole Foods took my favorite Fish & Chips off their River Room Menu, so I figured I'd give them a try! I have to say Mike was totally right.  The fish was just the right balance of crispy and juicy!

Where else can you find some good Fish & Chips in Boise? According to Yelp, these are the Treasure Valley's favorite places to chow down on the seafood favorite!

Carly Y. from Meridian said she loved the Fish and Chips.  For $9.95, she was impressed with the 2 large pieces of very fresh cod and a nice side of French Fries.

    Bittercreek Alehouse

    246 N 8th Street, Boise

Iddy who was visiting from Wisconsin said the fish and chips at Bittercreek was the best they ever had.  The breading wasn't super doughy.  They said that it was thin and crisp and that the homemade tartar sauces was outstanding.

    The Kilted Kod

    Traveling Food Truck

When we hosted the Idaho Food Festival, this was my favorite food truck.  Courtney from Meridian says her in laws were stationed in Scotland and agreed that the food truck's version reminded them of Scotland. She says for less than $10 a meal, this generous serving is a steal!

    Sockeye Grill and Brewery

    3019 N Cold Rd, Boise

Yelp reviews reveal that Sockeye does a couple different takes on Fish & Chips.  One user said they had a halibut special.  The Fish & Chips on their normal menu is actually Salmon dipped in the brewery's own Angel's Perch Amber Ale batter, served fries, a house tarter sauce and cocktail sauce.

    Highlands Hollow

    2455 Harrison Hollow Ln, Boise

I used to run the Harrison Hollow trails behind Highlands Hollow every Tuesday and these always hit the spot after a run.  The portion of halibut you get is huge and I honestly think that Highlands Hollow has some of the best french fries in the Treasure Valley.  Their house tarter is pretty unique, as well!
