U.S. Gold Medalist Takes the Ice in Sun Valley This Weekend

This might be the closest you get to a U.S. Gold medalist if you haven't been fortunate enough to meet Idaho's own, Kristen Armstrong. Sun Valley is hosting their Summer on Ice and you're invited this weekend.

I grew up watching the Olympics and out of all the sports, I'm always drawn into gymnastics and ice skating. My little sister was a national champion on roller skates and was so good. I tried ice skating a few times and how they stay up on one blades is beside me, but jumping, spinning and a sheet of ice - always mesmerizing to me. This weekend you can witness it under the stars.

Sun Valley is Idaho's most well-known resort town and is hosting Sun Valley on Ice. This is an outdoor show every Saturday night during the Summer with ice skating's biggest names. You can U.S. Gold Medalist Ice Skater, Nathan Chen this Saturday. This guy was a champ at 10 years old and is kind of a local boy native to Salt Lake City.

Nathan Chen also holds several records including the most points for one element (Quad lutz-triple toe loop combo.) Let's put it this way, Nathan is so quick! Do you wanna get away this weekend or for a quick Saturday Funday trip?

Tickets range from $29 - $139

Buffet opens at 7 p.m.

Grandstands open at 8:30 p.m.

The show starts at approx 9:30 p.m. and lasts a little over an hour.
