We Bow to These Strong Women Business Owners in the Treasure Valley

"Are you going to take the day off work?" was a question I was asked on Instagram when referring to today's "A Day Without a Woman" movement. My response: No. Why? I want to use this platform to celebrate the strong women in the Treasure Valley and name as many women business owners as possible. Ladies, you make us proud!

Today is International Women's Day and, in partnership with this yearly event, it's also A Day Without A Woman.

Breaking it down a bit, International Women's Day started in 1909 when women walked the New York City streets calling for equal rights. This year's theme is #BeBoldforChange.

Today, women are encouraged to:

1. Take the day off from paid and unpaid labor
2. Avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women and minority owned businesses)
3. Wear RED in solidarity

Knowing that many of us women have to go to work today (the whole paying bills issue we face), I wanted to make today a day we could celebrate the women who have taken a dream and launched it into a business. There are so many women in the Treasure Valley who run successful businesses and, in honor of today, let's celebrate them and spend our money with them.
