In three different traps collected just last weekend in Canyon County, mosquitoes have tested positive for the West Nile virus. One location was near Nampa-Caldwell Blvd and Karcher Road.

The mosquito abatement operations are working and we have several confirmed positive test of the virus. Last month, it was in Caldwell near the Boise River and now the locations where the virus has been found are:

  • Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge
  • Fort Boise Wildlife Management Area
  • Parma near where Parma borders Oregon
  • Nampa-Caldwell Blvd and Karcher Road

What happens if a mosquito carrying the West Nile virus bites you? Look for these signs to see if you're experiencing one, many or all of them.

Fogging treatments are happening right now. It's an effort to not only rid mosquito-infested areas of the actual mosquitoes but also the larvae.

I feel itchy all over right now.
