That red stuff in the Boise river is non-toxic but it caused an evacuation of the river yesterday. Today, the substance has been identified.

At 5:00 p.m. Boise Police evacuated the area around the play waves at Whitewater Park.

After testing, it was discovered that the substance wasn't toxic but they still didn't know what it was. This morning, we learned that the red substance is a red-based dye from a local dairy company. It was supposed to go into the sewage system – instead it went into a drain.

A contractor was hired to pump it from a storm drain.
