I've had one of these in my car several times and never realized I was doing something illegal!

With the craft beer business booming in the Treasure Valley, getting a 64 ounce growler fill of your favorite brew at a tasting room or grocery store seems rather routine.  But did you know as soon as you leave the store with the glass container, you're doing something illegal? Under Idaho Law, the jugs are considered open containers...even if you haven't taken the lid off of it. If you get pulled over with one in your car you could receive an open container ticket up to $300.

According to KomoNews.com, that's why the Idaho State Police are proposing a new rule to lawmakers for retailers to use an official tape seal on the cap once the growler has been refilled so that they know that it is indeed sealed.
