Is This the Ugliest Building in Idaho?

Our city skyline has been changing a lot in the past few years, but the most recognizable structure stands at 323 feet tall. It's not only a Boise Icon, but it's also the tallest building in the state. Recently, I was surprised to hear that Idahoans consider this the ugliest building in Idaho.

The list, put together by Business Insider, showcases some seriously strange, but well-known buildings including the Denver Airport and the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. It also has warehouses, hotels, and libraries that could all use a remodel. After scrolling through the list, I'm convinced that the Zion Bank building really isn't that bad.

The Zion's Bank building is located at Eighth and Main in Boise and is the backdrop for many downtown activities including the Saturday market and annual tree lighting at Grove Plaza. It was designed by Babcock Design Group and CTA Architects & Engineers and completed in 2014. Other tenants include Holland & Hart LLP, On the Fly Deli, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Formally referred to as "the pit" or "Boise Hole" the spot where the Zion bulding now sits was vacant since 1987. I would think any building would be welcomed over that. However, there was a lot of debate during the Zion building's design. Many people thought the spire too closely resembled those of LDS temples so it was changed multiple times before becoming the one it is today.
