6-Month-Old Baby Rescued In Massive Meridian Drug Bust
Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs in the community right now and Meridian police just put a HUGE dent into the industry of this lethal drug.
For those who are unfamiliar, fentanyl is an opioid. Other opioids include "oxycodone (OxyContin®), hydrocodone (Vicodin®), codeine, and morphine" according to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare. Needless to say, fentanyl is dangerous in the wrong hands.
Meridian police are on the frontline of the war against fentanyl and they put a huge dent into the drug trade on Friday when they made a huge bust.
According to a statement from Meridian police, five individuals involved in the fentanyl business were captured in a major bust near the intersection of N. Eagle Road and E. Longwing Lane. According to the official report:
At approximately 7:40PM on March 29, 2023, as part of the culmination of an on-going investigation, the Meridian Police conducted a traffic stop on vehicle occupied by two (2) occupants, thirty-five (35) year old Jose PEDRAZA and twenty-eight (28) year old Miranda MIKLANCIC, near the intersection of N. Eagle Road and E. Longwing Lane.
It was then that Meridian police knew something was up...
During the traffic stop, officers discovered a clear baggy of suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
Meridian police weren't messing around as they executed a search warrant around the same time:
Simultaneously, members of the Meridian Police Department Impact Team executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home located on the 3000 block of W. Silver River Street, Meridian; which ultimately led to the arrest of three additional individuals on various drug related charges.
That's when they made a shocking discovery. After Meridian police continued their investigation, they recovered a 6-month-old baby according to the report:
A six (6) month old baby was located at the residence and was taken into protective custody due to imminent danger.
It's terrifying to think about and even scarier to think that some of the people behind one of the biggest problems in the Treasure Valley have children at home. These kids are being exposed to things that no child should and God knows what about the children we don't hear about.
Huge kudos to the police of Meridian for getting these monsters off the street and protecting the children of Idaho.
