This generation's youth gets a bad rap.  A lot of people say they walk around feeling entitled to everything because of the new on-demand, we want it right it right now culture we're living.  That's simply not true.

The new tools at their fingertips let them do incredibly cool things for causes they feel deeply about.  16-year-old Marsing High student Megan McRae is a perfect example.  For her 17th Birthday, she's trying to fund-raise 1,700 items for St. Luke's Children's Hospital through the St. Luke's Foundation!

We had the opportunity to talk to Megan on Monday morning.  Megan told me she's spent a lot of time in the hospital because she's dealing with arthritis at a young age and that's where the idea to give back to St. Luke's came from.  Instead of having her friends and family give her presents or money for her birthday, she's encouraging them to donate to the hospital instead.  She also told me many people don't realize many of the items the hospital has on its wishlist don't even need to be new.  They'll accept gently used board games, books, action figures, game systems, art supplies and more.

If you'd like to help Megan work toward her goal check out the St. Luke's Wish List to see what they need.  You can drop your donations off at Logan's Market, Sleepy Hollow Quilt Store or Spot Pizza in Marsing.  Those residing outside the area can send their donations to:

More information is available on Megan's Facebook Page and she's set a deadline of March 15th to reach her goal!  Good luck Megan and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
